If we like our body to function properly, we should be careful what are we eating and what are we doing after our meals. We all do some of the following bad habits after our meals. We aren’t aware that some habits have negative effect on our organism.
When we are done with our meal, our body is in so-called postprandial mode in which our entire blood circulation is concentrated in the abdomen because of the digestion. If you take a shower after your meal the temperature of the body’s surface changes and the blood is transferred into the peripheral parts. In this way you are disturbing the process of digestion.
We all should drink plenty of water, but not immediately after having a meal. The water dilutes the digestive enzymes, which slows down the digestion. Once you are finished with your meal, wait for at least 15 minutes before drinking water.
Every smoker loves to have a cigarette after meal. Generally, smoking is a very bad habit, but it is even worse after a meal because smoking causes redirecting the blood flow towards the respiratory organs. This is body’s natural reaction because it needs to deal with the toxins, which disturbs the process of digestion.
Let’s get this straight, instead of dessert it is always better to have a peach,watermelon or any other fruit. But, when you consume fruit immediately after your meal, while the digestive tract is busy with food digestion, fermentation of the fruit could occur followed with belching, bloating or warm sensation in the chest. The experts recommend fruit intake at least one hour after your meal.
