This is very important if you are suffering from autoimmune thyroid disease. They can affect on your pancreatic function that can lead to insulin resistance. This can harm your thyroid and reduce your hormone levels.

Drinking coffee is a habit and if you took up at young age now it is a right time for you to cut back. The moderate amounts of consuming coffee daily are not harmful, excessive intake of this drink can seriously affect on your adrenal fatigue. Norepinephrine and epinephrine are hormones that your adrenal glands release when you drink coffee.
4. Cruciferous Vegetables
These vegetables are essential for a healthy diet, but if you are treating a thyroid disorder you should avoid them. This is only a possible concern when you are dealing with an iodine deficiency and also when these vegetables take a significant part in your diet. For example, the daily intake of broccoli is not a serious concern if you include a variety of nutriments in your diet which can provide all the nutrients you need.
5. Gluten
Gluten contains protein called gliadin, which is foreign to the human body. If you are consuming foods with gluten, your thyroid health is at risk. The thyroid has the enzyme – transglutaminase , which is similar to the gliadin. When you consume the gluten, your immune system triggers an attack response on gliadin and also on the similar enzyme in your thyroid.
For approximately 6months after you consume the gluten, the thyroid can suffer damage. It’s recommended to make regular screening for gluten intolerance and Celiac disease in case of autoimmune thyroid disease.
6. Soy
In this case only moderate consumption of soy is allowed. If you have been treating hypothyroidism with synthetic thyroid hormone, it could inhibit the body’s absorption of the treatment including calcium and magnesium pills and antacids containing aluminum hydroxide. It is recommended to wait for 4 hours after taking medication for thyroid disorder to consume soy.
The patients that are affected with an iodine deficiency can experience decreased thyroid function due to the isoflavones in soy.
It is very important to keep your thyroid healthy for your overall health. The foods mentioned above are best avoided whenever possible because they are considered unhealthy.
