If you have cracked heels, we recommend you to try this simple and little known method. Neither the expensive creams and ointments will give you the desired results. The dry and cracked skin on the heels is rehabilitating under the influence of the lemon peel.

You need 1 lemon, cream or oil for skin and socks.
Cut the lemon on halves and squeeze the juice out of it. you need just the peel with little pulp on it. Put the halves directly to your heels, put your socks and hold it like that for half an hour. After, remove the socks and take a look on your heels. The lemon peel and its pulp contain essential oils which soften and regenerate the old cracked skin and remove it perfectly. The cracks on your heels will be less visible and if this treatment is practiced for at least 2-3 times a week, the skin will look flawless. Apply little amount of cream or oil for skin on your foot, preferably coconut oil or mixture of glycerin and alcohol for softening.
After the treatment with lemon peel, the nutrients form the cream or oil will easily penetrate into the deep layers of the skin. This is one effective treatment for cracked and rough skin on the feet.

Other Tips for Preventing and Treating Cracked Heels

  • Keep hydrated. It helps to get rid of cracked heels and other health problems.
  • Eat a healthy diet. Add include omega-3 fatty acids, fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet.
  • Avoid sandals and other open shoes that allow foot expansion.
  • Avoid exposing feet to water, especially hot water, for long periods.
  • Wash and moisturize feet regularly.
  • Soak feet in warm, soapy water for 15 minutes each night. Rinse it thoroughly and pat dry to get relief from cracked heels.
  • Maintain a healthy weight in order to avoid putting excess pressure on feet.
  • If you have athlete’s foot, thyroid disease, psoriasis, eczema, or diabetes, consult a doctor for advice on treatment.
  • Avoid standing for long periods which may cause cracks in feet..
  • Get regular exercise.
  • Eat foods rich in vitamin E, calcium, iron, zinc, and omega–3 fatty acids.
  • Avoid extremely hot water as it dries skin, results cracked heels.
